The Spector Woodstock Custom Collection Volume II is all about experimenting as creatives, trying new things, and pushing the boundaries of what a Spector bass can be. “My WCC Vol 2 build was inspired by the materials we use every day at the custom shop and finding a way to combine them that was visually and sonically appealing and fresh. The color of the roasted maple neck brings out the streaks of the Macassar ebony fingerboard, as well as the color and texture of the tortoise style inlay material. The transparent white finish was inspired by the classic Mary Kaye guitars of the 50’s and I chose flame maple and swamp ash body woods to best complement that color and for their reliable properties. For electronics, I went with three Lollar Thunderbird pickups, wired passively with simple controls that allow players to access any and all combinations of the pickups. Why three pickups? Why not?” – John
