The idea of integration in Sire basses starts with the P7 model as the first among the lines having both P and J characteristics. With the Marcus-signature pickup set, this hybrid bass guitar is able to produce double delight with both distinctive P-bass and classic jazz tones.

The Sire preamp is a perfect example that represents Sire technology and philosophy. With multiple tone controls, you can have total command in finding and getting the tone you want. The use of 18-volt battery enables the player to attain unaltered natural sound with strong and powerful output. With 3-band EQ, the player can have versatility in sound that can be suited for all occasions of music sessions.

This model comes with option for active and passive setting. Even in the passive mode, volume, tone, pickup balancer is fully functional, giving the player more controls for the tone in any mode. These models also come with sweepable midrange control option, that Marcus Miller advocates as a “must have”. The middle frequency control knob allows the player to set sound frequency anywhere between 200 Hz to 1 kHz. This option will be very handy in finding the desired sound.

Swamp ash is a high quality tone wood that is not common in this price range bass, as well as the Marcus Super Precision pickup set—made with a US-manufactured Formvar coil. It is an upgraded pickup set that allows you to create both the special tone from the precision bass along with vintage sound from the jazz bass. By adding a heavy mass saddle to the traditional jazz bass bridge, more rich and punchy tone is generated. This bass features Sire’s 3-band EQ preamp, developed for the Marcus Miller series bass, in order to meet the needs of Marcus Miller’s versatility and to cover all styles of music.

The Marcus Super Precision pickup set is made with US-manufactured USA coil. It is an upgraded pickup set that allows you to create both the special tone from the precision bass along with vintage sound from the jazz bass. In addition to the fiber bobbin and Alnico 5 magnets, this pickup is also made with US-manufactured USA coil magnet wires. This Marcus Super Precision pickup set gives the player that rich, powerful, unique precision bass sound as well as the vintage jazz bass tone.

Precision Bass Type

As one of the oldest jazz bass types and one of the oldest styles, the Precision Bass Type features a vibrant and robust sound.

Swamp Ash

Premium swamp ash wood is usually found in higher priced instruments. It is known to produce a well balanced and highly resonant tone, and offers a nice balance of pleasant highs, firm lows, and a slightly scooped midrange which is great for slap playing. The characteristics of this wood enable players to emulate Marcus Miller’s tone a step further.
