The Schecter J-5 Bass in Gloss Black (BLK) features a bolt-on construction with an alder body, flat top contour, black hardware, and a Schecter Custom bass bridge with string-thru or top-load capability.

The maple neck has a Thin “C” profile and a rosewood fingerboard with offset/reverse dot inlays. It includes a 16″ (406 mm) fingerboard radius, 21 narrow X-jumbo frets, and a 35″ (889 mm) scale length. Neck thickness measures .787″ (20 mm) at the 1st fret and .866″ (22 mm) at the 12th fret. Additional specifications include a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut with a 1.771″ (45 mm) width and a 2-way adjustable truss rod with heel-access spoke wheel.

Electronics consist of Schecter USA MonsterTone-J pickups in both the neck and bridge positions, with volume, volume, and tone controls featuring a push-pull coil tap.

Additional features include metal knurled knobs with set screws and Ernie Ball 5-String Super Long strings (.045–.130).
