Adventurous and Atmospheric – The Rainger FX Drone Rainger Delay Pedal

Based on Rainger’s Echo-X delay pedal, the Drone Rainger is a dub-flavored digital delay. Rainger’s most cinematic pedal yet produces low, throbbing drones that you can mix through the delay circuit. The pedal is fantastic for playing shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and ambient music.

The Drone Rainger mixes the guitar and drone signal independently through the same delay circuit (about 1 second maximum repeat time), including a dry guitar switching option. There are two analog tone generators inside the Drone Rainger – one with a 12-way selector switch, the other free-moving. When tuned nearly the same, you get interesting ‘beats’ between the two. Blend them using the ‘mix’ knob!

Extra Foot Switches

The Drone Rainger has two instantaneous effects that can be switched in with a footswitch while you play guitar. One is a ‘tone-down’ pitch dropping effect; the other is a ‘pitch-up’ effect, raising the pitch of one tone generator much higher. The pedal can produce two separate notes and toggle between the two while you play. If your music isn’t strictly tuned to pitch, you use the ‘fine-tune’ knob.

Updates to the 2021 Drone Rainger

The 2021 version of the Drone Rainger no longer has the main ‘volume’ knob. The pedal runs as if the pots were open, and you adjust volume with the individual controls. Rainger also removed the white noise effect, replacing it with the ‘pitch-up’ momentary sound.
