The Barber World BUSS High Gain (HG) edition is a versatile and expressive overdrive pedal that builds on the foundation of the B-Custom Super Sport and the Barber Burn Unit. Designed in collaboration with Five Watt World, this HG version expands the gain range into modded Marshall territory while blending in tonal flavors reminiscent of cranked Vox amps and high-gain Dumble tones—perfect for players seeking the articulate saturation heard in “Talk to Your Daughter”-era Robben Ford. The left toggle switch lets you choose between two core voices: Super Sport mode, which delivers a classic, aggressive British overdrive, and Burn Unit mode, which thickens up your tone with smooth, Dumble-inspired dynamics. The right toggle switch activates either High Harmonics or Ultra Dynamics mode—High Harmonics adds vintage amp-style sponginess and harmonic richness, while Ultra Dynamics offers increased volume, openness, and remarkable articulation, even with higher gain settings and single-coil pickups.

The BUSS HG’s control layout offers deep flexibility. The Volume knob sets output level, with unity gain typically found between 9 and 1 o’clock depending on your pickups. The Tone knob acts as a high-end roll-off, and its response varies by mode—try 2–3 o’clock for Super Sport, and around 12:30–1 o’clock for Burn Unit. For even more tonal sculpting, rolling off your guitar’s tone knob can yield thicker textures, especially in High Harmonics mode. The Drive control sets the amount of sustain and gain, and works interactively with the toggle switches to shape everything from tight crunch to smooth saturation.
