The Palmer River Inn, Active 2-Channel DI Box for Guitar, Bass and Keyboard – Stereo provides the ideal solution if you’re looking to pick up a pure guitar, bass, or electric piano signal with all its brilliance and without any tonal shift – even stereo sources, or two instruments simultaneously. Its low-noise active circuitry allows a higher input impedance than a passive DI box. This means the sound of the instruments is captured without treble or bass losses. High-level input impedance is especially important in interaction with the magnetic pickups in electrical guitar, electric bass and electromechanical electric pianos (e.g., Rhodes), as well as with (passive) piezo pickups for acoustic instruments. The Palmer inn is also very well suited to synthesizers and other electronic keyboards as it also offers sufficient headroom to handle high-level sources without unwanted distortion. In addition, the inn is two-channel, meaning it can process stereo signals or two instruments simultaneously.

Naturally, the Palmer inn has a THRU output to transmit the input signal to the instrument amplifier. With 30 dB pre-attenuation activated, the Palmer inn is also optionally looped in between the amplifier output and loudspeaker unit if the sound shaping from the amplifier is to be recorded too, instead of the “raw” instrument signal. An especially practical feature is that – in addition to the individual outputs for both channels – it also offers a sum output with the signal of both channels. This saves on mixer channels.

The balanced, low-impedance output signals from the Palmer inn are resistant to interference, which enables long cable runs without loss of sound quality. Thanks to the integrated transformer, the XLR outputs are galvanically isolated and have individual Ground Lift switches to eliminate ground loop hum without fuss. For a power supply, 48V phantom power or a standard PSU (9-24V) can be used.
