Made with Fender’s special “Journeyman” treatment, it simulates years of heavy play and careful upkeep in the hands of a pro musician, with an emphasis on a well-broken-in feel—plus gently modernized playability and naturally aged, well-cared-for appearance.
This ’59 Custom Shop reissue P-Bass features a period-correct contoured 2-piece Adler body with a specially aged “chocolate” 3-tone sunburst lacquer finish, relic Gold Anodized for a vintage-accurate look, and tone. Likewise, the transitional style late 59 style AAA rosewood slab board with aged “clay” dots and medium jumbo Dunlop 6150 frets for comfortable modern playability. Players will also love the rock-solid, quartersawn “oval-C” shaped maple neck with Journeyman style worn-smooth, fast “unfinished” feel. The 50’s P-Bass is known for its deep, articulate sound that’s laid the foundation down and kept the pocket tight on countless R&B, R&R, C&W, and more musical styles for the past 70-plus years, and this one is no different. Under the hood, you’ll find a hand-wound 57-voiced split coil pickup, controlled by one volume and tone control, for a wide variety of great vintage-inspired sounds, still in demand today.
