Fender Custom Shop 1962 Stratocaster RW Heavy Relic – Josefina HW Pickups – Dakota Red
Dakota Red, worn to the bone and ready to sing.
This 1962 Stratocaster was built to feel like it has already lived a few lifetimes. The heavy relic work is tactile and convincing. From the first grip, the medium-tinted quartersawn maple neck feels broken in, paired with a smooth AAA rosewood board and wide dot layout that plays like an old friend. The 60-style Oval C carve sits right in the sweet spot, measuring .790 inches at the first fret and .930 inches at the twelfth. Narrow tall frets and a 9.5 inch radius keep things fast and clean. The hand-wound ’60s pickups deliver glassy highs, scooped mids, and just enough bite to cut through a mix. The middle pickup is reverse-wound for hum cancellation, and the wiring stays true to vintage Strat layout.
Every detail is dialed in. From the parchment relic back plate to the upgraded trem arm and aged white plastics, it’s built with intention. Even the headstock thickness and nut width are vintage-correct. This isn’t a reissue. It’s a time capsule with modern playability. Includes vintage-style brown tolex case and certificate of authenticity. Made in USA.
