Dreadnought Shape

Bedell’s American dreadnought body fills the room with big sound, and that’s definitely one of the reasons why that guitar shape plays such popular role in American musical history. This one combines the beauty of the quilted maple with the powerful response of an Adirondack spruce top, and offers an unusually striking Sapphire finish.

Wood Notes

An Adirondack top delivers volume and clarity without distortion, even with heavy picking. Adirondack spruce is relatively heavy, with a high velocity of sound, and it has the highest stiffness of all acoustic top woods. The maple of the body and sides for this instrument is sourced from (approximately) century-old bigleaf maple trees. Quilted maple is popular for it’s looks, but is comparatively rare geographically, being sourced primarily from the bigleaf maples of the Pacific Northwest U.S. and Canada.
